World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade option lets players boost an item's gear rating up to 700 points and add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you take them to the Kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded to benefit from their unique stats (like a perfectly rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons don't change much post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons have a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. A lot of weapons also have a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a single unit. This bonus may exceed the damage a weapon upgrade alone can do.
A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For example, an +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the gun will increase until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. While this is generally beneficial but it can also have negative effects as well. For items that are only used in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them could render them unusable unless you get a lucky roll.
Armor items can also be upgraded to increase their performance. This can increase the base defense of a helm or chest, while belts and gloves will increase their required strength and agility. Armor also offers the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense%, meaning that it can sometimes roll back to a lower number.
The upgrade template for a weapon displays the new stats that it will gain when upgraded, along with their relative values. This means that a weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% does not mean that it will strike for 3 times less often because it's an absolute statistic.
Rerolling item upgrades is also possible by pressing the green button within the item menu using the circling arrows. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's level or connect to the status of your account.
Armor
A few armor upgrades can make all the difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE increases in poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, which can make the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. The more defense your character has, the more value you can get from each point of health you have, so it's important to upgrade your armor as often as you can.
To upgrade your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a special side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've done the main side quest and completed the fountain in question, you can then speak to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrade menu.
The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor is different. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the first upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For instance the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a good-sized group of enemies in the majority of cold environments and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, granting the protection needed to survive the full-on assault with a few of your friends.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll want to concentrate on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're a Mage. It is also recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you will still be wearing at the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town, you can unlock perks for your armor. Generally, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be useful to have a few upgrades to your chest armor and helmets to allow you to stealth around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are substances in bottles that, if consumed, provide the user with the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five types of potions, each with different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to enhance their level of effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by adding glowstone dust and redstone.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP. These can be earned by making them using a craft table or in an chest of the Alchemist. However, the upgrade price changes depending on what kind of potion you wish to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potion you need to right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This opens a GUI in which you can select the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll produce when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time, and their XP will be added to the total XP you have.
Once a potion is upgraded, it won't degrade until you use it again, or break the bottle it's stored in. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
There were a few updates to the mechanics of potions in version 1.7.2. Splash potions for instance, now have a duration that is 0:08 instead of 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display for the item. The table of potion can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. It can now be utilized in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. Also, putting a potion on a full cauldron drains the contents and refills the bottle.
In addition, there are lingering potions that are made using dragon breath and splash potions. In the same way, a lingering potion effect can be extended by adding redstone. The potion table is now laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added such as the potion of leaping, the decomposition potion, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket can be a small, inexpensive ornament or piece jewelry. It may also refer to an object or ornament that serves a purpose, but is not particularly significant like a trinket. In some cultures a trinket can be used to show affection or friendship between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items, trinkets can be exchanged at will without losing their status.
The upgrade vendors are found in major cities and the capital of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a brand new trinket. It is possible to upgrade the player for just 12 tokens. item upgrader has the same base level as the old trinket but it also comes with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded when they're no longer needed which allows a player to increase their power and worth over time. They can also be traded between players and are an extremely popular alternative to gold.
Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondary items and finally, other gear items that they won't replace soon (for instance rings or cloaks). When deciding on which items to upgrade players must also consider the preferred statistics of their class. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players then they should consider upgrading their chest, helm, and shoulders.
Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level once they no longer have value, and the new trinket will receive an additional 1% upgrade bonus. However, a re-upgrade can ruin the previous trinket until it is salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still less expensive than buying the new one.
